Opportunities for adapted mountain tourism and necessary preparation.

Challenges

The archive article explores steep terrains, narrow paths, missing adapted information and barriers in the old huts. The ordinary wheelchair is not suitable for all mountain routes.

Participation approaches

  • Specialized high-speed carts with trained escorts.
  • Driving with guide and constant voice instructions for people with visual impairment.
  • Prior introduction to the route through relief maps and models.
  • Coordination between organizers, volunteers and participants.

Human and field planning

The publication discusses Black Peak, Musala and Snow White as examples of organized adapted visits. This does not mean free or independent access. The specific route, equipment, forecast and capacity of the team shall be assessed for each journey.
